Serdang: Visitors to the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA) 2026 are encouraged to wear face masks as a precaution amid the current haze and hot weather conditions. Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu stated that this measure is crucial to safeguard public health, particularly with the anticipated increase in visitor numbers during the school holidays and over the weekend.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad emphasized the importance of this precaution at a press conference following the official opening of MAHA 2026 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). 'With the holidays beginning today, we anticipate a large turnout. I hope visitors will wear face masks, if possible, due to the haze and weather conditions to better protect their health,' he said. The event was attended by Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Chan Foong Hin and the ministry's Secretary-General Datuk Seri Isham Ishak.

Mohamad also reported that 140,000 visitors were recorded on the first day of MAHA 2026 yesterday. In addition, he invited the public to join the Merdeka Eve celebration at MAEPS at 11.30 pm tomorrow, which will feature drone and fireworks displays.

MAHA 2026, themed 'Penciptaan Nilai Demi Keterjaminan Makanan', runs from August 28 to September 6 at MAEPS. The event brings together approximately 2,000 exhibitors and targets more than four million visitors throughout its duration.
