Putrajaya: The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) 2026 exhibition will take place at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from August 28 to September 6, as announced by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the biennial event is expected to attract four million visitors and 2,000 exhibitors and generate RM58 million in sales. Speaking at the MAHA 2026 pre-launch ceremony, Mohamad emphasized that the event will feature State Pavilions, agricultural technology showcases, laser and water shows, an agro safari, and other significant segments, aiming to broaden visitors' knowledge and spark interest in agriculture among the youth.
MAHA 2026 adopts the theme 'Value Creation for Food Security', highlighting Malaysia's efforts to build a resilient, technology-driven agri-food ecosystem. Citing the Agriculture Census 2024, Mohamad pointed out that 45 percent of agricultural players are over 60 years old, while only three percent are between 15 and 30, indicating a generational gap that MAHA 2026 seeks to address by encouraging youth participation.
The minister stated that Malaysia aspires to become a leading food producer in the region, and youth involvement is crucial for this goal. International exhibitors are also invited to collaborate with local companies, particularly in technology transfer. Reflecting on MAHA 2024, which surpassed its visitor target with 5.5 million attendees and achieved RM48.5 million in sales, Mohamad highlighted the strategic importance of MAHA as a platform to strengthen Malaysia's agri-food ecosystem, while upholding Malaysia MADANI values and honoring agricultural workers.
