MAIS To Implement New Module For Selangor Teaching Credential Holders Next Year

Shah alam: The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) will continue to enhance its dakwah (Islamic propagation) and tarbiah (holistic nurturing) initiatives in the state through the implementation of the new Modul Pengukuhan dan Profesionalisme Pemegang Tauliah Mengajar Negeri Selangor starting next year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIS chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin stated that the module serves as a strategic guide to enhance the quality, integrity, and professionalism of teaching credential holders. The module places emphasis on aspects such as aqidah, fiqh, tasawuf, current deviant teachings, Quranic skills, and the latest credential regulations.

"There are several credential holders who teach beyond the scope of their approved category, for instance, M2-B holders are authorised to teach only the basics of iqra', but some have delivered pengajian berkitab lessons specific to the M1 category," Salehuddin explained during the Selangor State Teaching Credential Holders' Ijtimak 2025 at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque. He expressed concern over the inclination of a few credential holders towards beliefs that contradict the manhaj (school) of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah, which could lead to the suspension or revocation of teaching credentials.

Salehuddin emphasized the necessity for all credential holders to maintain discipline, uphold good morals, and adhere to the rules set to ensure that the noble responsibility of imparting knowledge is preserved and respected. He addressed a recent incident involving a preacher who criticized MAIS and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) for allegedly not addressing issues related to Palestine, highlighting the potential for public confusion due to inaccurate statements.

The launch of the new module aligns with the decree of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who stressed the need for greater care and strict screening in the issuance of teaching credentials. Salehuddin noted that adherence to this decree is fundamental to maintaining unity, prosperity, and the credibility of Islamic dakwah in Selangor.

To date, 5,572 individuals have been certified as Selangor State Credential Holders. The introduction of the e-Tauliah digital system has facilitated easy, transparent, and efficient application submissions, contributing to the increase in certified individuals. The launch of the new module was officiated by Salehuddin, alongside Selangor Mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir, Islamic Religious and Cultural Innovation Committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, and Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar.
