Malaysia and Kenya Red Cross to Strengthen Humanitarian Ties as PM Anwar Highlights Collaborative Efforts

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia is set to explore deeper collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), particularly in training, capacity-building, and knowledge-sharing, to ensure no community is left behind during disasters and crises, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister expressed hope that this effort would benefit people in both countries and strengthen their shared humanitarian mission. His remarks followed a meeting with KRCS secretary-general Dr. Ahmed Idris, who has an outstanding record in humanitarian work, public policy, and international law.

During their meeting, Anwar and Dr. Ahmed exchanged views on the KRCS's role in protecting vulnerable communities, strengthening disaster preparedness, and improving policy frameworks to address increasingly complex humanitarian challenges. Anwar highlighted that the Kenya Red Cross is a highly influential and respected institution, including within the Muslim community, making it an effective platform to promote the values of humanity and compassion.

The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation for Dr. Ahmed's dedication to advancing humanitarian priorities in Kenya and across the African region. He emphasized that Malaysia has always believed that a nation's strength is measured not only by physical development but also by its commitment to compassion, justice, and human dignity.
