Kuala lumpur: Malaysia Day should serve as a national platform for reflection to assess how far the country has succeeded in building a mature, capable, and magnanimous society in facing the challenges of the times. The Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, emphasized that the strength of a nation is not solely measured by economic progress or physical development, but also by maturity and wisdom in managing its diversity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Junaidi noted that Malaysia is entering an era demanding new ways of thinking, with global competition becoming increasingly complex due to artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and geopolitical changes. He stressed that Malaysia cannot merely be consumers of change but must be creators of the future.

Wan Junaidi highlighted that Malaysia Day serves as a reminder that true progress can only be achieved when no one is left behind in the nation's development. He pointed out the importance of giving attention to the elderly, persons with disabilities, rural communities, and vulnerable groups so that they too can enjoy the nation's prosperity.

He also called for a culture of excellence to be continuously fostered in every field, including education, research, sports, the arts, and public service. Wan Junaidi expressed his wish to see more young Sarawakians emerge as scientists, engineers, founders of technology companies, researchers, social entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
