Malaysia Day Reflects National Unity and Courage, Declares PM Anwar

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized today that Malaysia Day transcends a mere celebration of historical union by representing the nation's steadfast determination to remain united amidst diversity. He highlighted the significance of the annual celebration on September 16 as a reminder of the bravery shown by past generations in resisting colonial rule, maintaining dignity, and laying the groundwork for an independent and sovereign nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar remarked that the country's foundation was built through the sacrifices of generations who ignited the flame of freedom. He urged current and future generations to ensure this flame continues to guide the nation through the challenges of modern times. He underscored the importance of Malaysia's strength, which lies in its people who uphold values of humanity, justice, and solidarity, supported by strong national institutions and effective governance.

Anwar further stated that the cultural richness and societal diversity of Malaysia should be celebrated as a blessing that fortifies the nation's bonds of brotherhood. He encouraged citizens to commemorate Malaysia Day by reaffirming their commitment to ideals that uphold human dignity, reject moral decay, prevent division, and position Malaysia as an example of commendable leadership both regionally and globally.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of ensuring Malaysia is perceived as a just, prosperous, civil, and compassionate nation, with the aim of passing it on to future generations as a strong and dignified nation-state.
