Kuala lumpur: Malaysia welcomes Ant International's business expansion and the strengthening of its partnership with local companies in line with the framework of creating high-value jobs and building capabilities to boost the country's digital economy. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed these sentiments in a post on X following a meeting with Ant International's chief executive officer Peng Yang and his delegation earlier today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the discussions between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Peng Yang centered on the progress of artificial intelligence adoption in Malaysia, with particular focus on sectors such as tourism, trade, and technology. They also discussed talent development in the context of Ant International's operations.
Ant Group, which began with the AliPay service in 2004, is a multinational company headquartered in China. Ant International, based in Singapore, serves as the international business unit of Ant Group. Khazanah Nasional Bhd, a significant investor in Alibaba Group and Ant Group, plays a key role as a partner in this expansion.
The collaboration between Ant International and Malaysian entities is seen as a strategic step towards enhancing Malaysia's digital economy and fostering innovation across various sectors.
