Putrajaya: Malaysia has reaffirmed that a lasting solution to the Palestinian conflict must be comprehensive and grounded in universal justice, including recognition of Palestinian rights and an end to oppression and occupation by the Israeli regime. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized this point during a telephone conversation with Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, who updated him on recent developments aimed at advancing peace in West Asia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Qatar leader conveyed that while Islamic nations welcomed the peace initiative led by United States President Donald Trump, skepticism persists as Israel continues to violate the initiative. Anwar reiterated Malaysia's stance, stating, "We will continue to assert clearly and decisively that any solution must recognise the rights of the Palestinian people, including those in Gaza, and end the oppression, occupation and colonisation by the Israeli regime," during his closing remarks at the Rancakkan MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku programme.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister mentioned that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had reached out to him to express Egypt's willingness to host a special conference focused on Gaza's recovery, extending an invitation to Malaysia to act as a co-convener. Anwar noted, "We are cooperating and examining the modalities of the programme, as upholding universal justice is our responsibility."
