Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia welcomes the potential for collaboration between local industry players and Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) to strengthen infrastructure performance, capacity building, and knowledge exchange on smart highway management and digital construction technologies. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi emphasized that such collaborative initiatives could expedite an integrated and intelligent transport system in Malaysia that is more efficient, safer, and sustainable.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nanta expressed his admiration for how KEC leverages technology to enhance expressway operations, road user safety, and environmental sustainability efforts. He highlighted the use of integrated traffic management systems, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence for predictive maintenance, which offers valuable insights for Malaysia's efforts to modernize its highway systems. He made these remarks in a Facebook post during his visit to South Korea for the 2025 Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Asia Pacific Forum.

KEC, a South Korean national expressway agency, is responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of over 5,000 kilometers of expressways across the country. Nanta noted that the technical visit reinforced Malaysia's commitment to transforming its road infrastructure in alignment with the Malaysian ITS Roadmap 2030, which is under development by the Ministry of Works.

Nanta also expressed his appreciation to the leadership and team at KEC, particularly managing director Lim Chan Soo, for their hospitality and constructive discussions. He expressed hope that the relationship will continue to strengthen, aiding in the construction of safer, smarter, and more sustainable expressway networks in the future.
