Malaysia Seeks Turkiye’s Help To Repatriate Detained Volunteers

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia has sought the assistance of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to repatriate Malaysian volunteers in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission who have been detained by Israeli forces. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced this effort following diplomatic discussions with several key leaders, including Erdogan, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim requested President Erdogan to facilitate the return of Malaysian volunteers by transporting them from locations around Israel to Istanbul on a Turkish aircraft. This aircraft will also be carrying Turkish citizens. From Istanbul, arrangements have been made to bring the Malaysian volunteers back home.

Prime Minister Anwar shared these developments with reporters after performing Friday prayers at Al-Khadijah Mosque in Lembah Pantai. He expressed optimism, noting that several preliminary understandings have been reached regarding the repatriation efforts.
