Malaysia Strengthens Global Halal Hub Role Through Strategic Collaborations

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia's ongoing efforts to solidify its position as a global halal hub have been further advanced by its participation in the Osaka World Expo 2025 and a significant visit to Sanda Shokuniku Kosha, a halal abattoir in Kita-ku, Kobe City, Hyogo, Japan. This engagement is seen as a critical step in understanding the best practices of Japan's thriving halal meat industry.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu highlighted the importance of this visit. Sanda Shokuniku Kosha, noted for being the only halal-accredited facility in the region, is recognized for its production of halal Kobe beef. The minister pointed out that the visit provided a valuable opportunity to delve into the industry's processing methods, hygiene standards, traceability systems, and modern technology usage, all of which meet stringent food safety requirements.

Mohamad expressed his gratitude towards the management of Sanda Shokuniku Kosha for their dedication to maintaining international halal standards and contributing to the enhancement of the regional halal ecosystem. These collaborative efforts are deemed essential for Malaysia to reinforce its standing as a leading global halal hub.

Furthermore, Mohamad emphasized that his ministry aims to empower the ruminant industry in alignment with the Malaysia MADANI approach, which is centered on sustainability, prosperity, and creativity. The focus is on increasing local involvement in this sector, utilizing modern technology and halal assurance as foundational elements for success. The ultimate goal is for Malaysians to become leaders, not just consumers, within the global halal value chain.
