Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia and Switzerland have agreed to establish the Malaysia-Swiss Nexus Programme through a secretariat based at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS). In a Facebook post today, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir announced that the agreement was reached during his meeting with Switzerland's State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation, Prof Dr Martina Hirayama.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting took place while Zambry was attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 Annual Summit in Davos, Switzerland. Zambry highlighted that the meeting was a follow-up to discussions initiated during their previous encounter in September in Bern, Switzerland. The discussions focused on various issues, particularly the exploration of more comprehensive exchange programmes, including those involving students, lecturers, and research collaborations between the two countries.
Zambry also mentioned extending an invitation to Hirayama to visit Malaysia during its ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship. This visit aims to provide Hirayama with a closer look at Malaysia's universities and polytechnics, potentially paving the way for future collaborations.
