Malaysian Army Initiates Gerak Pantas 2026 Exercise in Kelantan and Terengganu

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Army (TDM) is set to commence the Gerak Pantas 2026 Exercise in the states of Kelantan and Terengganu starting tomorrow, running until May 15. This exercise aims to evaluate the army's combat readiness and operational capabilities in addressing national security threats.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the annual exercise will feature the 10th Parachute Brigade (10 Briged Para) and will be conducted in several key locations. In Kelantan, the operations will cover areas including Cherang Ruku and Pasir Puteh, while in Terengganu, the exercise will unfold around Gong Kedak Air Base, Besut, and Kuala Terengganu.

The public is advised to remain cautious on the roads and not to be alarmed by the movements of military personnel, convoys, aerial asset operations, or the sounds of explosions. These activities will be particularly noticeable during the final assault phase scheduled for May 15 in the Tok Gong Dam area of Besut, Terengganu. TDM has assured that all training activities will be executed in a planned and controlled manner, adhering strictly to public safety procedures.

TDM has expressed gratitude towards the state governments of Kelantan and Terengganu, the involved security agencies, and local communities for their cooperation and support.
