Kuala lumpur: The Scouts Association of Malaysia is set to expand its community-based scouting program to Borneo next year, announced Chief Scout Maj Gen (Rtd) Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Zin Bidin. The initiative is designed to offer children and teenagers, who are unable to join the movement at the school level due to institutional caps on participation, an opportunity to engage in scouting activities at the community level instead.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Mohd Zin explained that this approach will allow students to undergo structured training and complete modules that enable them to earn badges, eventually leading to their commissioning as King's Scouts. He shared these insights with reporters following the Scouts Association of Malaysia Investiture Ceremony 2025, which took place today.

During the ceremony, a total of 569 individuals, including 12 international representatives, received awards and honors. The event was officiated by Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam. Among the awardees, National Scouts Council vice-president Datuk Zamani Tambichek received the Star of the Paddy Spirit (Silver), while Deputy National Chief Commissioner Ahmad Sabri Saad was honored with the association's second-highest award.

Dr Mohd Zin emphasized that scouting activities play a crucial role in nurturing leadership, discipline, and character among young people. The movement instills positive values that help prevent participants from engaging in unhealthy behaviors such as bullying, by teaching them to uphold moral integrity from a young age.
