Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today assured that Malaysia's oil and gas supply remains secure, even as the government continues to closely monitor the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the role of the MADANI government in maintaining vigilance, with contingency plans in place to protect citizens and ensure the continuity of the nation's economy. Anwar highlighted these measures in a social media post, underscoring the government's commitment to national security and economic stability.
Earlier, Anwar, who also serves as the Finance Minister, presided over the 2026 National Finance Council (MKewN) meeting alongside state chief ministers at the Ministry of Finance. He reported that Malaysia's economic fundamentals remain robust, despite the uncertainties stemming from the Middle East conflict. The Prime Minister noted that the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in 2025 surpassed expectations, and the unemployment rate has reached its lowest point in 11 years.
