Istanbul: The Prime Minister's political secretary, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, is currently in Istanbul, Turkiye, coordinating the return of 23 Malaysian delegates from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this task was entrusted to him by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with a directive to ensure the safe return of the Malaysian participants.
In a Facebook post, Ahmad Farhan emphasized that while the delegates' return marks the conclusion of their current mission, it does not signify the end of Malaysia's commitment to the Palestinian cause. He highlighted that the delegates' efforts serve as a testament to Malaysia's steadfastness in its principles and the courage of its people in confronting powerful adversaries. Ahmad Farhan expressed gratitude for the prayers and support for the safe return of the delegates, whom he referred to as the "country's heroes and heroines."
Ahmad Farhan shared that he met with the delegates and reported that almost all are in good health. He noted their stability and enthusiasm in continuing their advocacy for Palestine's liberation. He also mentioned that many activists discarded their mobile phones into the ocean to prevent them from falling into the hands of opposing forces.
Last Thursday, the 23 Malaysian activists were detained by the Zionist regime's military after their ship was intercepted in the R3 Red Zone of the Mediterranean Sea and taken to Ashdod Port, Israel. All detained activists have since been released, departing from Ramon Airport, Israel, before arriving in Istanbul.
The activists include notable individuals such as singer Heliza Helmi and her sister, Nur Hazwani Afiqah; Nurfarahin Romli (Farah Lee); Danish Nazran Murad (Grande Blu); singer Zizi Kirana (Huga); and others such as Musa Nuwayri, Iylia Balqis, Sul Aidil, Haikal Abdullah, and more. Influencer Nurul Hidayah Mohd Amin, known as Ardell Aryana, and others, such as PU Rahmat, Norhelmi Ab Ghani, and Mohd Asmawi Mukhtar, were also part of the group.
