Malaysia’s U-17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifying Hopes End with Loss to India

Selayang:Malaysia's aspirations to qualify for the 2027 U-17 Women's Asian Cup final round were ended following a 4-0 defeat to India in their final Group E match at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, India opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Redima Chingkhamayum's long-range effort beat the Malaysian defense. Their lead was extended six minutes into the second half by Pritika Barman, followed by a third goal from Anushka Kumari three minutes later.

Despite the challenges, Malaysian goalkeeper Putri Aina Husna Mohd Subri made several crucial saves to prevent further goals. Meanwhile, Malaysia's attempts to score were thwarted by the Indian defense until Nidhi Kumar secured the victory for India with a goal in the 86th minute.

Malaysia had previously won their opening match 1-0 against Syria and achieved a 4-0 victory over Iraq in their second match. Under the tournament format, the eight group winners will proceed to the 2027 U-17 Women's Asian Cup in China, joining pre-qualified teams North Korea, Japan, Australia, and host China.
