Melaka: The police have arrested a man who is suspected to be involved in assaulting a victim with a helmet at the junction leading to Taman Cheng Utama that was recorded on video and shared on Facebook.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit stated that the suspect, a 27-year-old trader, was arrested around 12.30 pm at Batang Tiga police station in Klebang. Preliminary investigations suggest that the assault took place on Thursday due to a misunderstanding between the suspect and the 52-year-old victim while driving.

The altercation escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the suspect allegedly hit the victim with a helmet. The victim later appeared at the Melaka Tengah district police headquarters to provide additional information and was issued a POL59 Form to seek medical treatment at Melaka Hospital.

Authorities are currently in the process of confiscating the motorcycle, helmet, and clothing worn by the suspect during the incident for further investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code. ACP Christopher Patit advised the public to maintain patience and control their emotions to avoid engaging in criminal activities. He also urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact the Melaka Tengah district police headquarters or the nearest police station.
