Santubong: A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a three-year-old girl in Kampung Rampangi, Santubong, near here on Tuesday. Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu stated that a report on the incident was lodged by a 52-year-old local man.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the complainant reported that a friend informed him of his daughter's death on Tuesday. Initial investigations suggest the victim may have been abused to death. Acting on this information, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of Kuching district police headquarters (IPD) apprehended the suspect in Kampung Krian, Jalan Padawan, at 11 am today.

The suspect, who has six prior drug-related records, also tested positive for drugs. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. ACP Alexson reminded the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could interfere with the investigation.

The police have urged those with information regarding the incident to contact the Kuching IPD at 082-24444 or senior criminal investigation officer ASP Chris Olsen Ramlee at 013-8607572 to assist in the investigation.
