Man Detained Over Alleged Sword Threat On Social Media

Kuala lumpur: Police detained a 46-year-old man over a viral social media post allegedly containing a threat to injure an individual with a sword. Perlis acting police chief SAC Zaihairul Idrus stated that the Kedah-born suspect was detained in Langgar yesterday and has been remanded for three days starting today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, police recovered the sword shown in the viral post from the suspect's vehicle during the arrest. The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958. It is believed that the threat may be linked to a personal dispute.

Zaihairul said police received a report yesterday regarding a threatening post that went viral on the 'SAYA ANAK PERLIS' Facebook page. The case is also being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. He emphasized that the police would take firm action against anyone violating the law or attempting to provoke tensions and disrupt public order.
