Klang: A man was killed after he was believed to have been struck by a vehicle and thrown into a two-metre-deep drain along Jalan Kapar, Batu 5, Klang, early today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar stated that the department received a call regarding the incident at 3.23 am. Seven officers and personnel in one fire engine from the Kapar station were dispatched to the scene. The man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health personnel.
Meanwhile, Klang Utara Police chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao reported that the victim, believed to be a Bangladeshi national, was struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in a hit-and-run incident at about 3 am. Preliminary investigations indicate that a black SUV travelling from Klang towards Kapar lost control before hitting a pedestrian on the roadside. The impact resulted in the man being thrown into a drain, while the driver fled the scene. The victim was later confirmed dead at the scene due to severe abdominal injuries.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Authorities are urging anyone with information on the incident to contact the investigating officer, Traffic Insp Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah, at 017-5843860 or report to the nearest police station to assist in investigations.
