Man Suffers Severe Burns in LPG Explosion at Taman Baiduri

Kuala ina: A man suffered burns to about 50 per cent of his body following an explosion believed to have been caused by a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) leak at a house in Taman Baiduri, Kuala Ina.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) zone 2 chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairani Ramli, reported that an emergency call was received about the incident at approximately 10.26 am. A team from the Alor Gajah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the fire brigade discovered a 29-year-old man, who was a tenant of the house, injured following a sudden explosion in the kitchen. The JBPM Emergency Rescue and Treatment Service (EMRS) team administered initial treatment before transferring him to the Ministry of Health (MOH) medical team for further care at Tampin Hospital.

Zulkhairani explained that prior to the incident, the victim had returned from his village in Pahang and noticed a sound, suspected to be a gas leak. As he inspected the cooking gas cylinder, a sudden explosion occurred, causing burn injuries and extensive damage to the house.

The explosion resulted in damage to the roof and affected the building's structure, including doors, windows, ceiling, and electrical wiring. Monitoring and safety inspections are being conducted to prevent further risks and assist in the investigation.

The incident is suspected to have been caused by an LPG gas leak that accumulated in the house. Further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion.
