Manjung: The Manjung Police headquarters today disposed of 35,516 items seized in cases involving gambling, Bitcoin mining, and the smuggling of cigarettes and liquor, with a total estimated value of RM2.95 million.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Police deputy chief DCP Mohammad Azlin Sadari announced that the disposal involved 173 investigation papers for cases recorded between 2019 and this year. The seized cigarettes and liquor accounted for the highest value at RM1.575 million, followed by Bitcoin mining equipment at RM1.275 million and gambling-related items at RM99,538.
The items were disposed of after all the investigation papers had been completed at the prosecution stage, and approval for their disposal was obtained. Bitcoin mining equipment was disposed of through e-waste management, while the other seized items were disposed of using an excavator and by burning, in accordance with the prescribed procedures and SOPs, he explained during a press conference.
