BANGI, April 10 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) provided free health screenings to the congregants of the Al-Hasanah Mosque, Bandar Baru Bangi, here today.
MAPIM secretary-general Zulhanis Zainol said the mobile clinic initiative was part of its ‘Ihya Ramadan’ programme with the co-operation of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) and the management of the Al-Hasanah Mosque.
“A total of 70 people had come for their health examination and treatment here from 11 am to 4 pm.
“In the health screening programme today, MAPIM provided two doctors, two medical assistants, a double-decker bus and an ambulance to ensure we can provide the best service to the congregants here,” he told the media.
He said besides blood glucose test for diabetes and blood pressure checks, MAPIM also provided medicines.
One of the congregants, Mohamad Zin Mohd Supaat, 63, praised the free health screening service provided by MAPIM and opined that prior announcements should be made to attract as many people as possible to benefit from the service.
“This is a good initiative. However, it is better if the programme is advertised for a longer period of time and implemented from early morning, as more people can come,” he said.
Meanwhile, Zulhanis said the Ihya Ramadan programme began with ‘qiamulail’ (practice of worship at night) and ‘sahur’ (predawn meal) today at 4 am, and continued with ‘kuliah subuh’ (dawn lecture) and ‘kuliah duha’ (forenoon lecture).
He said besides the aim of providing assistance to those in need, the Ihya Ramadan programme which was held at the Al Hasanah Mosque, was also to enliven the mosque and foster ties between MAPIM and zakat recipients.
“Alhamdulillah, we received good support this time in drawing up the activities and preparations to implement the Ihya Ramadan programme to help those who were financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have also prepared iftar (breaking-the-fast) food for the zakat recipients and, InsyaAllah, programmes like this would be continued in the future,” he said.
A total of 500 iftar packs sponsored by MAPIM Mobile Kitchen would be distributed to the zakat recipients and the Al-Hasanah Mosque congregants.
MAPIM also prepared 2,000 packs of lambuk porridge (containing spices and meat) which were distributed via a drive-through in the mosque’s compound.
Zulhanis said a special ceramah programme entitled ‘Peduli Ummah’, Terawih prayers (extra prayers during nights of Ramadan) and ‘moreh’ (feast after terawih) would also be held tonight.
“MAPIM will provide a gift in the form of an exclusive Quran to worshippers who complete 20 rakaat (units of prayers) of the terawih prayer,” he said.
In the meantime, MAPIM, which is active with volunteer activities in Palestine, urged Malaysians to support and champion the cause of the Palestinians.
