MAPIM Outlines Seven Determinations For Malaysia To Champion Palestinian Freedom

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) has outlined seven main determinations to ensure Malaysia remains a strong voice in the world in fighting for Palestinian freedom, especially in relation to the ongoing attacks on Gaza. Its chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Ahmad Sani Araby Al-Kahery, emphasized the importance of Malaysia speaking out against humanitarian crimes, such as the killing of children, women, and civilians, and attacks on hospitals and schools, while advocating for the protection of humanitarian institutions in the region.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Sani urged Malaysia to not remain silent as long as these crimes persist. He expressed support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to remain steadfast in defending Gaza and Palestine until independence is achieved. This statement was made during the presentation of the Sumud Nusantara Declaration at the 'Malam Himpunan dan Selawat - Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza', part of the Sumud Nusantara Carnival 2025, at Dataran Merdeka.

The event saw the participation of prominent figures, including Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who delivered a special solidarity lecture titled "Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza." Other attendees included Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and Sumud Nusantara director-general and Cinta Gaza Malaysia CEO Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman.

In the declaration, Ahmad Sani firmly stated that Malaysia would not normalize relations or compromise with the Zionist regime and rejected all efforts to legalize colonization. He called for an immediate cessation of war and demanded the opening of a world humanitarian corridor unconditionally, alongside a permanent ceasefire and an end to the brutal killing of Palestinians.

Furthermore, Ahmad Sani highlighted the urgent need to end the starvation of people in Gaza and expressed hope that Malaysians and citizens of Nusantara countries would continue providing aid. He reassured that despite various challenges, assistance from Malaysians would persist.

Through the declaration, Ahmad Sani condemned the killing of 283 journalists in Gaza, labeling it as a crime against press freedom, and urged local media to remain resilient in spreading the truth and championing Palestine through knowledge, understanding, and solidarity. He emphasized the necessity of Malaysia being a pivotal point in defending Gaza and called for unity among Malaysians in supporting Palestine.

In conclusion, Ahmad Sani reiterated the collective commitment to stand with Gaza until Palestine achieves true independence, stating that the Sumud Nusantara Declaration signifies unwavering strength and determination to ensure Gaza's freedom.
