KANGAR, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has produced more than 60,000 entrepreneurs and created 68,000 job opportunities so far, thus successfully expanding its business network and strategic cooperation in the entrepreneurial sector with more than 100 leading companies.
MARA deputy director-general (Entrepreneurship) Datuk Zulfikri Osman said MARA provides a complete entrepreneurial ecosystem that includes various developments including human capital, business and support facilities such as business premises financing.
‘Development initiatives for entrepreneurs which have been implemented by MARA have succeeded in empowering women entrepreneurs as well as exploring the domestic market, and being able to bring products to the international level,’ he said in a statement in conjunction with the closing ceremony of the Women in Search of Excellence (WISE) here yesterday.
The Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail officiated the closing ceremony. Also present was Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku
Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Zulfikri said that WISE, themed ‘Empowering Women in Business’, was a joint venture with Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah (YTF), one of the agenda of empowering women entrepreneurs who contribute to the country’s economic development.
‘A total of 250 Perlis women entrepreneurs from various industries are involved in this programme which is implemented in a hybrid method to identify the potential of products that can be marketed thus increasing the motivation and awareness of participants as well as giving exposure to business skills and personalities,’ he said.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters after the closing ceremony, Zulfikri said a total of 3,222 Perlis entrepreneurs were recorded with a gross sales revenue of RM273.6 million last year, thereby benefiting 1,950 people in the state with employment opportunities.
‘Alhamdulillah, income of entrepreneurs in Perlis increases every year as we provided various initiatives to them including by providing 342 business lots for
rent at a very competitive price apart from they can also contact the existing MARA offices in each district in Perlis,’ he said.
