Langkawi:Proceeds from Marriott International's annual charity run, Road to Give 2026, will go towards supporting the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) in providing dialysis treatment for eligible kidney patients.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aloft by Marriott Langkawi Pantai Tengah announced that the five-kilometre run, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in conjunction with National Sports Day, attracted 450 participants in Langkawi.
The funds raised will aid NKF Malaysia's Patient Adoption Programme, which helps reduce the financial strain on patients with advanced kidney disease by sponsoring dialysis treatment, clinical assessments, and other medical assistance.
The event included participation from Marriott International properties in the northern region, such as The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, The St. Regis Langkawi, and The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa. Now in its 12th year across Asia Pacific, Road to Give unites hotel associates, guests, business partners, and local communities to raise funds for charitable causes through sporting activities.
In addition to the run along the Teluk Baru coastal route, the event featured various activities organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, including an aerobathon, street soccer, woodball, tree climbing, and archery. Health screenings and a blood donation drive were also conducted, promoting community involvement, physical activity, and health awareness.
NKF Malaysia CEO Choo Kok Ming highlighted the importance of such collaborations in supporting the foundation's mission to provide life-sustaining dialysis treatment, comprehensive patient care, and essential support services for individuals living with kidney disease.
