Kuala Lumpur: Maxis continues to shape young future-ready talent and drive youth empowerment through partnerships with universities, including its latest collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), which collectively account for over 30,000 students.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the partnerships were formalised at two memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremonies recently hosted at Menara Maxis. Maxis was represented by its Chief People and Transformation Officer, Patrick Er. Meanwhile, UMT was represented by its Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Mohd Zamri Ibrahim, and Prof Dr Abdul Rasid Abdul Razzaq represented UTHM.
The collaboration aims to advance learning, career readiness, and digital skills while strengthening industry-academia ties. The key areas of collaboration include knowledge sharing by Maxis leaders and experts to provide real-world insights. Maxis said the collaboration also provides career opportunities through internships at Maxis and the Hotlink Campus Ambassador Programme, along with special university packages for students and staff, E-sports on campus, and other joint programmes to promote student development.
Patrick Er stated that as Malaysia's leading integrated telco, the company looks forward to combining its industry expertise with the academic excellence of its university partners. He emphasized Maxis' commitment to providing young talent in Malaysia with unparalleled opportunities for growth and professional development.
Prof Dr Mohd Zamri Ibrahim noted that the UMT's partnership with Maxis will create valuable opportunities for both parties to leverage cutting-edge technology, expertise, and professional networks. He expressed confidence that the collaborations will not only enhance UMT students' academic achievements but also provide valuable exposure to the real working world and potential career opportunities.
Prof Dr Abdul Rasid Abdul Razzaq highlighted that as a technical university, the industry-academia collaboration with Maxis will play a key role in its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). He mentioned that this partnership will help UTHM students gain relevant skills, industry exposure, and a competitive edge in the evolving digital landscape.
Maxis has supported several UMT programmes such as Program Jalinan Mesra Student Baru, UMT Liga Bola Hotlink Piala Timbalan Naib Canselor HEPA, ESG Global Young Leaders Summit, and Anugerah Ikonsiswa. Similarly, at UTHM, Maxis has supported the UTHM Convocation Festival and the Kad Prihatin Siswa initiative.
