MBR Celebrates 30 Years of Documenting Malaysian Excellence

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) marked its 30th anniversary with a gala dinner tonight, bringing together the country's most distinguished record holders, leaders, and cultural icons to celebrate three decades of documenting Malaysian achievements.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MBR Chairman Datuk Seri Michael Tio stated that the organisation was established during the Malaysia Boleh era to officially record the nation's accomplishments. He highlighted that MBR has certified 8,800 records and published 17 English editions, aiming to inspire more Malaysians to break records by reviving the TV series "Malaysia Luar Biasa" with Bernama TV.

Datuk Seri Michael Tio further expressed that the 30th Record Breaking Night reaffirms MBR's commitment to celebrating excellence and inspiring future record breakers across Malaysia. The event was graced by Deputy Communication Minister Teo Nie Ching, former Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, MBR CEO Christopher Wong, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) CEO Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, and Bernama Head of TV, Nor Hamzeela Md Hambali.

Over 800 guests attended the event, including Olympians, world champions, media executives, corporate leaders, celebrities, and trailblazers from across the country. Notable attendees included tower-running champion Soh Wai Ching, Olympian Goh Liu Ying, young racing prodigy Sophia Zara Mustaffa Kamal, and Malaysia's shortest man Mohd Sukur Ibrahim.

Additionally, 91 National Record Holders were officially recognized, highlighting the breadth and strength of Malaysian talent.

Guests were also treated to an exclusive teaser screening of the upcoming MBR TV series, "Malaysia Book Record of Records 2025 - Malaysia Luar Biasa," set to air in August.
