MBW Innexus Industrial City Project to Generate 37,000 Jobs, RM2 Billion GDV

Johor bahru: The RM2 billion gross development value (GDV) MBW Innexus Industrial City project is set to create approximately 37,000 jobs across multiple skill levels, as announced by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MITI's minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, emphasized that the project stands as a pivotal development in Malaysia's industrial progress, promising long-term advantages for the nation's workforce, businesses, and communities. He elaborated on the significance of these jobs, stating that they represent more than just numbers, but real opportunities for families and communities. The project aims to broaden Malaysia's industrial capabilities, support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and enhance regional competitiveness.

The MBW Innexus Industrial City is located on 296 hectares of prime land in Tanjung Langsat, Johor Bahru, strategically positioned within Flagship D of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). This area is part of the 'Golden Triangle' of Southeast Asian industrial cooperation, linking Tanjung Langsat, Pasir Gudang, and Singapore's Jurong. Tengku Zafrul highlighted the corridor's potential to become the region's most interconnected industrial cluster, offering investors unmatched cross-border supply chain integration.

He further noted that the development will leverage JS-SEZ's pilot policies aimed at reducing bureaucratic barriers and expediting investor processes in areas such as immigration, customs, investment approvals, and talent mobility. The project's location near leading institutions, including Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan, is expected to ensure a consistent supply of skilled workers and foster collaboration between multinational corporations (MNCs) and local SMEs.

Tengku Zafrul also remarked on the strong alignment between the federal government, the Johor state government, and the private sector in implementing the project, underscoring Malaysia's commitment to being pro-business, pro-investment, and pro-industry. He conveyed a clear message that Malaysia is not only a secure place for investment but also a reliable long-term partner for growth, with Johor poised to serve as a cornerstone for future industrial investments.
