Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is set to broaden the deployment of its Nexus application at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). This initiative aims to assist students in evaluating internet speed, functionality, and the overall quality of the network.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced that the Nexus application, which is accessible on both iOS and Android platforms, allows users to detect internet accessibility issues and assess data coverage in their locations. The Ministry of Communications is also promoting a network sharing policy to encourage cooperation among telecommunications providers to address internet and mobile network access problems.
Minister Fahmi emphasized that data from the MCMC Nexus app will be utilized to enhance internet quality. As part of his visit to UMS, Fahmi inspected the university's Wi-Fi infrastructure, which has been upgraded with 1,010 new access points. This upgrade enables UMS students to access campus Wi-Fi with speeds ranging from 200 to 300 Mbps.
Fahmi expressed his hope that the enhanced access points will enable students to experience faster, broader, and more secure internet connectivity throughout the campus.
