Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has identified several social media accounts and individuals linked to a viral video of a stage performance that allegedly insults the institution of the Malay Rulers and the Rukun Negara.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MCMC stated that an initial review found that the recording originated from a 2018 stage performance and has since resurfaced on social media. MCMC is collaborating with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysia Police to complete the investigation, focusing on matters related to digital evidence.

The public has been advised against speculating or spreading unverified information about individuals connected to the video, aiming to prevent disruption of the investigation process.

Earlier, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang urged both the police and MCMC to conduct a swift and comprehensive probe into the stage performance video. He emphasized the need for appropriate action if any laws are found to be violated, considering all the relevant legal provisions.
