Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has conducted visits to 359 communication device premises across the country to educate owners and staff about the importance of certification and MCMC labelling on communication devices.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the visits are part of the Direct Engagement programme, which is scheduled to run from June 2024 to November 2025. This initiative aims to ensure that communication devices are safe, authentic, meet required standards, are compatible with networks, and do not interfere with frequencies, as highlighted by MCMC.
MCMC has reported receiving positive feedback from traders, who have shown support for the on-the-ground approach and have committed to adhering to the certification and labelling requirements for communication devices. This effort underscores MCMC's ongoing dedication to safeguarding user safety and maintaining the integrity of the national communications network by ensuring that only compliant devices are available in the market.
Additionally, MCMC has reminded users to purchase only devices that are certified and bear the MCMC label. To facilitate this, users are encouraged to use the Check Your Label (CYL) app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. By entering the MCMC Label ID, IMEI number, or serial number, users can verify a device's authenticity and compliance with the required standards.
