Accra:Perak Media practitioners are increasingly crucial as the "eyes and ears" of the Perak state government, helping to spotlight urgent issues that need immediate government action. This role has become more challenging due to the increasing pressure on media professionals to deliver rapid yet accurate reports.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching emphasized the demanding nature of media work, noting that practitioners are tasked with attending numerous programs daily and capturing essential information and photographic angles without sacrificing speed or accuracy.
Another significant challenge is simplifying complex issues into clear and understandable terms for the public. Sandrea noted a shift in public preference towards brief, bite-sized information, which complicates the task of providing comprehensive context and preventing misunderstandings.
She highlighted that a single viral sentence, headline, or image could quickly shape public perception, often without conveying the full story. The media aids the government in identifying and addressing issues relevant to the public, especially in housing and local government matters such as waste collection, drainage, streetlights, housing, and markets.
Sandrea expressed gratitude to the media for their role in bringing attention to issues that demand government response and emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between the state government and the media to fulfill their societal responsibilities effectively.
The Jom Mancing YB Sandrea Bersama Media 2026 program was attended by media representatives from various outlets, including Bernama, Utusan, Harian Metro, and RTM, among others in Perak, along with the Perak Media Practitioners Association (PPMP) chairman Sayed Mohd Hisham Syed Idris.
