Melaka Chosen as Venue for Visit Malaysia 2026 Launching – PM

Melaka: The government has agreed to hold the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM 2026) Launching Ceremony in Melaka, announced Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar highlighted that Melaka was selected due to its comprehensive infrastructure, along with its appealing culture and gastronomy, which have the potential to attract foreign tourists.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that the well-organized preparations in terms of culture, food and drink, and infrastructure would certainly benefit the nation, the state, and its people. He expressed his inclination towards hosting the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 Launching Ceremony in Melaka during his speech at the National-Level Aidilfitri MADANI 2025 Celebration Ceremony held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh.

The event was attended by notable figures including the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahidi, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and his deputy Teo Nie Ching. Also present were National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, various Cabinet Ministers, and the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

Prime Minister Anwar also took the opportunity to commend Melaka for attracting investors, particularly from China and Germany, due to its excellent infrastructure. He noted Melaka's popularity in these countries because of its efficient officers and the clarity of its leadership, which expedite processes. He expressed his approval of the state government's role in accelerating processes, which can facilitate investment and hasten development.
