Melaka Fire Department Inspects Election Centres for Safety Compliance

Melaka:The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has conducted inspections on 28 nomination and official vote-tallying centres in preparation for the 16th Melaka state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these inspections were carried out at the request of the Election Commission (EC) to ensure that the fire safety facilities at these centres are operational and comply with safety standards.

Melaka JBPM director Mohd Zaidi Ma'at stated that the inspections focused on fire safety systems and emergency exits to guarantee the safety of nomination and polling centres. He confirmed that all inspected centres have met the necessary fire safety requirements and that the department is ready to handle any emergencies during the election process.

Mohd Zaidi also mentioned that joint simulation exercises were previously conducted with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the EC in Masjid Tanah. These exercises were designed to prepare for potential incidents such as riots, fires, and other emergencies, ensuring that all involved agencies can effectively coordinate their responses.

In addition, all fire stations in Melaka have been placed on standby to handle possible emergencies, including fires and floods, throughout the state election period. The EC has scheduled Nov 14 as the polling day for the 16th Melaka state election, with nominations taking place tomorrow and early voting set for Nov 10.
