Melaka: The Melaka government will continue to ensure that the Orang Asli community in the state is not left out of the state's mainstream development, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. The government's commitment focuses on providing facilities and assistance to improve the standard of living for the Orang Asli community.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiatives include the construction of an open hall worth RM400,000 in Kampung Orang Asli Bukit Payung. This facility is intended to enable the community to conduct various programs, strengthen relationships, and enhance social skills. Additionally, six laptops valued at RM15,000 were donated to Orang Asli children in the village to encourage academic achievement.
Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh emphasized the importance of education and government support for the children in Bukit Payung, stating that background and upbringing should not limit their potential. He assured that the government would support those who wish to learn, succeed, and transform their family's future.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during the Taboh Naning state constituency 'Ketua Menteri Sayang Rakyat' tour program, which included attendance by Taboh Naning assemblyman Datuk Zulkiflee Mohd Zin.
Furthermore, the Melaka government is focused on creating opportunities for income generation and livelihood improvement for its residents. As an example, a RM6,000 three-wheeled motorcycle was donated to a single mother who sells fruits to help her increase her earnings. Ab Rauf highlighted that while the monetary value may seem small, such assistance can significantly impact small traders, enabling them to sustain their families and achieve self-reliance.
The recipient of the motorcycle, Dahayah Abdullah, 55, from Taman Jati Indah, Simpang Ampat, expressed gratitude for the donation, which she plans to use to sell cut fruits and nasi lemak. She shared that her previous vehicle was worn out after over 15 years of business use, and she had been unable to afford a replacement.
