Melaka Polls: PPP Leaves Seat Allocation To BN

Kuala lumpur: The People's Progressive Party (PPP) has conveyed its intention to the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership to be allocated a seat to contest in the upcoming 16th Melaka State Election. PPP president Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan stated that the party has not specifically identified any seat for the election, leaving the decision to BN's discretion based on the suitability of the area and current geopolitical changes. According to BERNAMA News Agency, PPP previously contested the Kota Laksamana state seat in 2013. However, due to internal party issues in 2018, PPP was not allocated a seat. Dr Loga Bala expressed the party's desire to be given a seat again in the upcoming election. He made this announcement after meeting with 120 PPP members, including division chiefs, branch chiefs, state Youth chiefs, and Women's wing chiefs in Melaka. In a related development, Dr Loga Bala announced the appointment of PPP Youth chief and PPP Federal Territories chief Sathiah Sudakaran as PPP Melaka Election Director. Sudakaran will support PPP Melaka chief Logeswaran Ganesan in coordinating preparations for the state election. Dr Loga Bala noted that the preparation of the PPP Melaka election machinery is now more than 90 percent complete, and it will assist BN throughout Melaka, as it did in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections previously. The term of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly is set to conclude in December.
