Melaka Prepares for King Tide Phenomenon Along Coastline

Melaka: Melaka is prepared to face any possibility from the king tide phenomenon, forecast along the state's coastline, from today until Dec 9. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh stated that all relevant agencies have been mobilised and placed on alert to address the natural phenomenon. "To all residents along the coastline, I hope you can remain patient (should any disaster occur) as these weather and natural changes are beyond our control," he said. He made these remarks to reporters after opening the Melaka Syariah Lawyers Commissioning Ceremony, themed "Peguam Syarie: Penggerak Keadilan Syariah" (Syariah Lawyers: Drivers of Syariah Justice), here, today. Also present was Melaka Syariah Chief Judge Azzeman Omar. At the event, 55 syariah lawyers and eight recipients of special accreditation received their credentials.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the high-risk areas in the state expected to be affected by the king tide phenomenon include Kampung Tanjung Bidara, Kampung Padang Kemunting, Kampung Telok Gong, Kampung Tanjung Dahan, Kampung Pengkalan Balak, and Kampung Kuala Linggi. Other areas of concern are Kampung Pengkalan Rama, Pantai Puteri, Kampung Sebatu, Kampung Pantai Siring, Kampung Padang Temu Pantai, Pantai Kundur, Kampung Pulai, Banda Kaba, Kampung Lereh, and Alai Perdana. It also involves Kampung Permatang, Kampung Umbai, and Parit China Pasir.
