MELAKA RECORDS 5.7 MLN VISITORS IN FIRST HALF OF THIS YEAR – CM

MELAKA, Melaka has recorded 5.7 million visitors in the first half of the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024), said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said the achievement was due to the concerted efforts of various parties who organised numerous carnivals and programmes to boost the tourism sector in the state.

‘This weekend alone, we welcomed approximately 100,000 visitors in conjunction with three simultaneous carnivals held at the Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh.

‘The events are the Hang Tuah Exhibition, the Johor Royal Family Classic Automotive Exhibition and Malaysia Bike Week Melaka (MBWM) 2024,’ he told reporters here today.

For the record, Melaka aims to record 18.7 million tourists for TMM2024.

Earlier, Ab Rauf accompanied Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam to officiate the Hang Tuah Exhibition and MBWM 2024.

Also present were Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and state Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk
Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman.

The Johor Royal Family Classic Automotive Exhibition features 37 classic vehicles such as Mack Truck Scorpion, Morgan 3 Wheeler and Harley Davidson Glide Tiger.

The Hang Tuah Exhibition brought together various documents, manuscripts, artefacts and new sources to strengthen the historical existence of the Melaka warrior legend.

Meanwhile, the MBWM 2024 is a continuation of a similar event held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Selangor in 2019, which attracted over 300,000 visitors.
