Kuala lumpur: Mesra Mall successfully concluded its five-day Mental Health Awareness Campaign 2025, held from Oct 8 to 12, continuing the Suria KLCC Group's corporate social responsibility (CSR) legacy in championing mental health advocacy within Malaysia's retail scene.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the campaign was anchored on the global theme 'Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies' and was executed through collaboration with the Youth and Sports Ministry and Health Ministry. It successfully united sports, health, and education to serve the East Coast community.
Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer, Francis Tan, highlighted that the Group's journey in mental health advocacy began in 2021 with its 'We Are With You' campaign, aiming to position its malls as safe spaces for crucial conversations. He expressed that seeing the initiative evolve and make a tangible impact in Kemaman is rewarding and a testament to the group's commitment to building a resilient community.
Dr Amran Japar, Director of Kemaman Hospital, noted that the campaign effectively bridged the gap between healthcare services and the public by offering free health screenings and mental health consultations. The enthusiastic participation in mindfulness workshops and the wellness fair indicated a strong desire for knowledge and support, demonstrating the community's commitment to mental wellness.
The event featured a variety of activities, including the Mesra Run on Oct 11, which gathered nearly 1,000 participants for a 5km run in conjunction with National Sports Day. The MesraActive inter-school competition, held in collaboration with the Kemaman District Education Office, involved students in futsal, badminton, and bowling, promoting teamwork and resilience among youth.
From Oct 8 to 12, Mesra Mall's Sports Lobby was transformed into a community wellness hub, offering free medical checkups, mental health consultations, and workshops on mindfulness and stress management in partnership with Hospital Kemaman. The campaign's success was supported by community and sponsors, including TMC, Pasar Suri, F and N, Farm Fresh, Hush Puppies, Carlo Rino, and many others, reflecting collective commitment to mental wellness.
