MetMalaysia Issues Midday Severe Weather Alert for Specific Regions in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia's Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) today issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, effective until 1 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the agency stated that thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected in specific regions including Pahang (Bera), Selangor (Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang), and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Additionally, Negeri Sembilan areas such as Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, and Jempol are also under alert.

In Sabah, severe weather conditions are anticipated in parts of Sandakan, particularly in Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, and Sandakan itself, as well as in Kudat.

In a separate advisory, MetMalaysia also reported the formation of a tropical depression. Detected at 8 am today, it is approximately 219 kilometers northeast of Gingoog City in the Philippines, moving west at a speed of 10 km/h, with maximum winds reaching up to 56 km/h. However, it was noted that the tropical depression poses no significant impact on Malaysia, with its closest point being roughly 1,211 kilometers from Semporna, Sabah.
