Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain, and strong wind alert for several states, with the warning in effect until 6 PM today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the warning was released at 2:20 PM, indicating that the adverse weather conditions are expected to impact Perlis, Kedah, Penang, and Perak. Specific areas in Kedah like Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Yan, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu are anticipated to experience the severe weather.
The alert also extends to Kelantan, where regions such as Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang are likely to be affected. In Terengganu, Besut and Setiu are under the warning, while Pahang's Cameron Highlands is also included. Additional areas such as Selangor, and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan, as well as Johor's Mersing, have been identified as vulnerable to the adverse weather conditions.
For Sarawak, the affected regions include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang. In Sabah, the areas of concern are the interior regions of Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, and Beaufort. Residents and authorities in these regions have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions in anticipation of the severe weather forecast.
