MFL Partners Konami To Take M-League Global Via eFootball

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Konami Digital Entertainment to bring the Malaysia League (M-League) onto the global digital stage through the popular football game eFootball.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MFL chief executive officer Mohd Shazli Shaik Mohd stated that the initiative marks an important step in strengthening the M-League brand while attracting younger audiences to local football. He described the collaboration as part of a broader 'mega approach' aimed at bridging the M-League with Malaysia's large eFootball community. Mohd Shazli noted that there has been significant social media buzz regarding the partnership, even before its official announcement, and the collaboration has received positive reactions from neighboring countries as well.

Malaysia is the third country to have its domestic league featured in the game, following Japan and Thailand. The duration and value of the collaboration, along with the returns to the clubs, are expected to be announced soon. Konami Digital Entertainment general producer Junichi Taya emphasized that Malaysia's strong football culture and passionate fan base make it a key market for the company. The collaboration will include elements of the M-League, such as clubs, players, and local football identity, within the game, providing international exposure for the domestic league.

The implementation of a dedicated Malaysian server is anticipated to enhance the online gaming experience, aligning with the rapid growth of the eFootball community in the region. MFL president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan, Konami Digital Entertainment senior business marketing manager Hajime Matsumaru, and players from several M-League clubs were present at the partnership ceremony.
