Military Personnel Arrested at Sungai Besi Army Camp with Firearm and Suspected Drugs

Kuala Lumpur:A military personnel was detained last Tuesday at the Sungai Besi Army Camp car park, found with a pistol, dozens of bullets, and liquid suspected to be ketum.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the arrest was made by a police team from the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division of the Cheras District Police Headquarters at approximately 1242 am.

Cheras Deputy District Police Chief Supt Lim Chun How stated that further investigations revealed the suspect had three prior criminal records, including two drug-related cases and one criminal case.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 and Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960. The detained personnel was initially remanded for five days, with the period now extended for an additional five days until October 8 to aid in the ongoing investigation.
