MINDEF and MOHE Collaborate to Update Palapes Training Syllabus

Selangor: The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) are set to enhance their collaboration to keep the Reserve Officers' Training Unit (Palapes) syllabus aligned with current needs. Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari emphasized the importance of this review in fostering students' identities and preparing them to fulfill their roles in the national defence force.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adly Zahari stated that Palapes is a crucial source of defence personnel and officers at the ministry level. He mentioned regular discussions on the Palapes programme implementation and resolving any arising issues. He also highlighted the intent to review several regulations to prioritize safety, given the physical nature of military training, while considering health and other related factors.

Adly Zahari made these remarks after officiating the Selangor Amanah Convention. This initiative follows comments by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin on September 4, indicating plans to enhance the curriculum and training content to motivate more Palapes cadets to join the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). The goal is to attract student participation during university years and ensure their experiences have lasting benefits beyond graduation.
