Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in all investigations related to corruption cases currently being handled by the agency.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin stated that the commitment aligns with the principles of transparency, accountability, and integrity to ensure that the nation's defence institutions remain free from any unethical practices. This commitment was among the key topics discussed during a courtesy call by MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki on him at Wisma Pertahanan.
Mohamed Khaled highlighted that the visit symbolized a shared commitment between the ministry and the MACC to strengthen integrity and governance, crucial for reinforcing public confidence in defence institutions. He also noted that both parties exchanged views on enhancing existing procurement procedures to ensure more effective implementation, free from corruption and abuse of power.
Further elaborating, Mohamed Khaled mentioned that the MACC agreed to offer advisory services aimed at strengthening procurement governance within MINDEF and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). He emphasized the importance of mutual understanding in the ministry's mission to combat corruption and abuse of power comprehensively.
He concluded by stating that these efforts are part of an ongoing initiative to restore trust in the MAF through clean governance practices.
