Missing Man In Cheneh Found Dead

Kuala lumpur: An elderly man who was reported missing after allegedly leaving his home in Kampung Baru Neram 1, Cheneh, near here, last Sunday was found dead near a swamp in the village today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Cheneh Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Hafiezul Mohamad said the body of Abdullah Besar, 70, was found by firefighters involved in the search and rescue (SAR) operation at 11.20 am today. He stated that the victim's body was discovered about 600 metres from the Fire Control Post (PKB), which was established after authorities received a report of the elderly man's disappearance on Monday.

"Today's SAR operation focused on a search radius of 10 kilometres, covering areas up to Perasing, near here, involving nine firefighters, including the K9 Detection Unit, volunteer firefighters and village residents," Mohd Hafiezul said in a statement today. The body was later handed over to the police for further action.

Meanwhile, the victim's younger sister, Norziah Besar, 60, expressed her gratitude that the anxious wait since her elder brother went missing had finally come to an end, although he was found dead. "I accept the loss of my eldest brother, even though it is deeply saddening. Our long wait has finally ended with the discovery of our beloved family member, although no longer alive," she said when contacted today. She also extended her appreciation to all parties who assisted in the search operation until her brother was found today.

The media had previously reported that Abdullah was reported missing after leaving home at about 7 am last Sunday to have breakfast at an eatery located about 200 metres from his house in Kampung Baru Neram 1, Cheneh.
