MIT Pahang 2024 Expected To Attract 10,000 Attendees – Exco


KUANTAN, The state government is targeting up to 10,000 industry players and members of the public, for the inaugural Malaysia International Tourism Expo Pahang 2024 (MIT Pahang 2024), a three-day event at the Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Centre, starting today.

State Unity, Tourism and Culture Committee chairman, Leong Yu Man, said that the expo, anticipated to become an annual event, is designed to position Malaysia – particularly Pahang and Kuantan – as a hub for tourism industry players.

According to her the expo has successfully drawn over 200 participants, from both local and international tourism sectors, including exhibitors from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, China, India, New Zealand, Korea, and Russia.

‘This event is highly anticipated by industry players. Typically, to promote tourism, players or Tourism Malaysia participate in international expos like ITB Berlin or WTM London.

‘We believe that Malaysia, particularly Pahang, has the potential to become a destination for industr
y players, to engage in discussions and share ideas on developing the tourism sector together,’ she said.

She said this after officiating the expo, on behalf of Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, at the centre, here, today.

Leong added that, through the expo, the state government has taken the initiative to collaborate with 90 large-scale tourism companies from 15 countries, including China, India, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as strategic partners, with the potential to attract tourists to Malaysia.

‘Our goal is to continue organising this event in the coming years, gradually establishing Kuantan and Pahang as a key hub for the tourism industry,’ she said.

The expo aims to provide a business-to-business (B2B) platform for tourism players from Southeast Asia and beyond, to connect and foster cooperation. It also includes seminars and workshops for industry participants, to exchange ideas and share knowledge.
