MMEA Proposes Posthumous Promotion for Officer Killed in Action

Teluk Bahang:The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has put forward a recommendation for a posthumous promotion for Mohd Roshaimi Mohd Ridzuan, an officer who tragically lost his life during enforcement duties in the waters off Kuala Sungai Padang, Perlis, last month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MMEA director-general Maritime Admiral Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah emphasized that the recommendation serves as the highest form of recognition for the officer's sacrifice. The proposal is currently under review by the Public Service Department and the Home Ministry.

The late officer was involved in an operation on October 27, which resulted in his death and injuries to three other personnel after their patrol boat reportedly collided with a concrete structure. This incident occurred while they were pursuing a boat suspected of carrying illegal immigrants. The operation was initiated based on intelligence from a neighboring country.

Admiral Mohd Rosli highlighted the ongoing risks faced by MMEA personnel and assured that the agency is committed to addressing the welfare needs of Mohd Roshaimi's family. He also noted the agency's plans to enhance personnel capabilities and operational assets, including the procurement of non-lethal weapons, under the Budget 2027 allocation.
